This pressure encourages the cornea to adopt a shape that enables light to be refracted directly onto the retina rather than in front of it. The cornea is able to temporarily hold this shape without the lens, enabling patients to see clearly without glasses.

Will my Proactive Corneal Reshaping lenses work after just one use?

Orthokeratology is a progressive treatment and the rate at which it works for patients will vary. You may notice an improvement in your vision without glasses after just one use, but this isn’t likely to reach optimal quality or last very long. However, with continued use, most patients are able to enjoy up to 48 hours of clear vision without the need for prescription glasses or contact lenses.

Is it safe to wear Proactive Corneal Reshaping lenses overnight?

Most people will already know that the majority of contact lenses shouldn’t be worn overnight. However, Proactive Corneal Reshaping lenses are created from gas-permeable material that enables oxygen to reach your eyes and keep them healthy. As such, they are extremely safe. Better still, the orthokeratology technique is entirely reversible, so if you decide that the treatment isn’t for you, you can stop using Proactive Corneal Reshaping lenses with no permanent effects.

Are there any age restrictions on using Proactive Corneal Reshaping lenses?
