Meet
Dr. Macy Santa Elena
Dr. Santa Elena was born in the Philippines and moved to Vancouver, Canada with her family at age 4. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia in 2019. She then moved to Forest Grove, Oregon, and obtained her Optometry degree from Pacific University, graduating with honors. During her final year, she completed a clinical externship at the Bend Veterans Affairs, where she treated and managed ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
She then worked at a co-management center in Denver with ophthalmologists who specialized in LASIK, cataract, and glaucoma surgeries. Lastly, she spent 6 months at private practices in Oregon and Nevada and is where she discovered that her true passion lies in private practice optometry. While Dr. Santa Elena enjoys taking care of her patients’ eyes and vision, she loves developing long-lasting relationships with them and their families.
She also has a great interest in performing comprehensive eye exams on children and managing dry eye disease. She was awarded the Practice Excellence Scholarship and the Professional Eye Care Associates of America Award at graduation. She is very excited to stay in the PNW and take advantage of all the outdoor adventures it has to offer! In her down time, you can find her hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, and spending time with her husband, friends, and family.
“I am extremely pleased to be part of such a wonderful clinic family at East Main Vision Clinic. I cannot wait to take part in the treatment and care of the residents here in Pierce County alongside all the amazing providers in this area!”
Sincerely,
